The implication of the Paris targets for the Middle East through different cooperation options

We employ a multi-region, multi-sector computable general equilibrium model global trade and energy to examine effects implementing agreement with focus on East which further disaggregated into Iran, Saudi Arabia, rest net fossil fuel exporting countries (XFE), (XNE). After examining abatement costs regions, we apply four emission reduction targets, ranging from low ambition level high level. develop comprehensive scenarios covering several cooperation options within between selected regions outside. results show Iran has lowest marginal cost followed by XNE, XFE, Arabia. If does not implement any climate policy, welfare losses can be slightly compensated due carbon leakage East. cooperations increasing region whole when mainly benefits whereas Arabia loses welfare.
